1. Jack Torrance a husband that made you wish you were single for life.
The character of Jack appeared in the 1980’s thriller “The Shining.” Psychic premonitions and the dark secrets of the hotel he and his family are staying at turn Jack into a homicidal maniac who is bent on terrorizing his family.
2. “Hellraiser” audiences were introduced to the terrifying B-movie villain, Pinhead.
During the course of 8 horror films, Pinhead, the lead cenobite, tore the souls apart of several victims and put fear into the hearts of audiences. Doug Bradley tried to distance himself from the role to star in other movies. But Pinhead remained a part of Bradley’s career over the years, and to this day, fans claim that it would be impossible to imagine anyone else in this role.
3. The Maniac Leatherface was spine chilling in Texas Chainsaw Massacre.
In the 2006 film “Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning”, we get to see a young Leatherface as he fine tunes his skills which he’ll later use to cause torture and unadulterated pain to his victim. Andrew Byniarski is one of 7 actors who played Leatherface so far.
4. “Halloween” brought us another masked serial killer named Michael Myers.
He first appeared as a young boy who ends up killing his older sister. Then he returns home fifteen years later to murder more teens. In the original film, the adult version of Michael Myers was referred to as “The Shape.”
Although other actors have portrayed Myers, Nick Castle was the first actor to play him.
5. In “Leprechaun,” Lubdan was a malevolent and murderous leprechaun.
But you couldn’t blame him since his gold gets taken from him in practically every sequel. So he goes to any means to reclaim it and get revenge on those who took it. Warwick Davis played Lubdan in all the films, except for the reboot “Leprechaun: Origins.”
6. John Kramer, the man behind Jigsaw in the “Saw” film franchise, was scary AF.
In the film, we heard his voice, even though he hid behind the mask of a creepy looking clown, but throughout the franchise, we learn the backstory that made John Kramer the villain that we all loved to fear. In real life, actor Tobin Bell, aka John Kramer, has starred in several popular shows.
7. The Demon Nun Valak brought fear into everyone’s heart in “The Conjuring 2.”
In the film, paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren traveled to Enfield, in North London, to help a girl showing signs of demonic possession. In the end, they became the targets of the malicious Valak. In real life, Bonnie Aarons has a striking appearance that has awarded her some interesting roles.
8. Pennywise struck terror in coulrophobia everywhere in the mini-series “It” in the 1990s.
The clown was based on a Stephen King novel of the same name, and it still horrifies children and grownups to this day, especially with the new “It” film coming out in 2017. However, Tim Curry, the actor who played Pennywise is a good guy, with some misfortune.
9. Jason Voorhees was seen very little during the first “Friday the 13th” movie in 1980.
But the boy that dragged Alice into the water in a dream sequence towards the end of the movie was only 15 when he took on the iconic character. Ari Lehman was the first Jason Voorhees and was approved immediately after auditioning. The now 51-year-old actor, composer and performing artist may not be as popular as the legacy he left behind, but we can all see a bit of a mean streak in his eyes.
10. Samara caused havoc and brought terror to audiences in “The Ring” in 2002.
In the film, anyone who watched a videotape of Samara would get a call informing them that they had 7 days to live. Then they’d get a visit from Samara herself as she crawled out of the well and into your living room, and killed you. In real life, Daveigh Chase, aka the actress who played Samara, is quite lovely. The 26-year-old actress has appeared in movies like “Donnie Darko” and Lilo Pelekai in “Lilo & Stitch.” But she’s also starred on “Charmed”, “ER” and is best known for playing Rhonda on HBO’s “Big Love.”
